State Receives 2899414 From Camden 33 Days Sport SportTRENTON TRENTON N J May 26 The first 33 days of racing at Garden State Park netted New Jersey 2899414 the state racing commission reported today This amount is more than a quarter of a million dollars in excess of the return to the state from the first 33 days of racing in 1947 when Atlantic Citys meeting of 21 days was fol ¬ lowed by a session at Monmouth Park ParkThe The commission attributed the increase to the new state law which provides that the state receive a minimum of 6 per cent of the parimutuel wagering wageringLast Last year when the Atlantic City track staged its spring meeting the states share of the take was only 1517633 It must be pointed out however that Atlantic City which relies to a great extent upon visitors to that shore resort for its patronage was operating during an offseason period periodIn In 1947 the return to the state from the three tracks Garden State Park Atlantic City and Monmouth Park was more than 7000000 This year it is estimated that racing under the new law will net the state between 11 and 12 million dollars
