Fire Prevention Method Shown at Narragansett NarragansettNew New Chemical Preparation Keeps Flames From Permeating Wood WoodPAWTUCKET PAWTUCKET R L May 27 A re ¬ markably successful method of fire preven ¬ tion was demonstrated at Narragansett Park this morning before a critical audi ¬ ence of firehazard experts which included the fire chiefs and fire prevention bureau chiefs from all over the state of Rhode Island and several Narragansett directors directorsA A small wooden stand used by morning dockers on the backstretch was the sub ¬ ject of the test The structure is approxi ¬ mately the size of a large loose stall en closed on three sides and built entirely of wood Prior to the demonstration it had been coated on the inside with a new type of fire preventative paint named AlbiR Into this small structure was piled a full baleof new loose and dry straw the sides of the structure were paper covered to du ¬ plicate the usual tack room and the whole was saturated with kerosene keroseneWhen When the torch was applied the whole building burst into hot flames and the con ¬ tents burned steadily for more than 20 minutes minutesThe The fire chiefs examined the outside of the shed and announced that no trace of the intense beat inside had permeated through to the outside of the boards When the demonstration was ended the fire pre ¬ vention experts unanimously declared it was the finest demonstration of its type they had witnessed Among the large crowd present was Fire Chief Cotter of Provi ¬ dence nnd Fire Prevention Bureau Chief Roberts also of Providence Chief Con ¬ nolly Pawtucket Chief Cote Wdonsocket Chief Callahan Central Falls Chief Sav ¬ age Valley Falls Chief Jordan Lime Rock and Chief Nichols Barrington BarringtonStrongly Strongly influenced by the experts opin ¬ ion Narragansett directors now will direct much thought toward coating all Narra ¬ gansett barns with the new substance The mixture can be applied as paint by either spray gun or brush and it is necessary to coat only the inside of the barns While the component parts of AlbiR are natu ¬ rally a trade secret it is known that am ¬ monium phosphate a wellknown fire re ¬ sistant is a main ingredient
