Black Majesty Never Headed In Blandy Purse at Belmont Whitney Colt Stands Long Drive Gamely to Score by Neck Margin Over Alsiral AlsiralBELMONT BELMONT PARK Elmont L L N Y June 7 C V Whitneys Black Majesty took the track at the start of the Blandy Purse feature of the moderate Belmont Park program and stood a long drive gamely to score by a neck over J H Skir vins Alsiral who led Phantom Farms Word of Honor by a length and a half Sanford Stud Farms Howdah finished only a head out of the money at the end of the seven furlongs Shelby Clark rode the win ¬ ning son of Boojum who paid 7 as the second choice and was teletimed in 126 126A A comparatively light Monday throng of 23186 turned out in humid weather Favorite players fared well with well backed horses scoring in all the races through the feature and Mrs D G Van Cliefs Birthday Party rewarding the bridgejumpers by winning the fourth event at oddson oddsonWhile While Black Majesty bounded along in the lead in the Blandy Striker Pilot was closest in pursuit in the early stages fol ¬ lowed by Mickey Dazzler Cougar and Sashay Alsiral was far back while Mon ¬ key Wrench trailed the field of 11 Black Majesty continued to lead by daylight to the head of the stretch where Sashay moved up to challenge followed by Alsiral on the outside At the same time Howdah moved into contention while Monkey Wrench started a powerful run along the rail railSashay Sashay Hangs at End EndBlack Black Majesty was put under extreme pressure by Clark and managed to hold the fast finishing Alsiral safe while Sashay hung at the end Howdah lost some ground cutting to the rail in the stretch but turned in a much improved race while Monkey Wrench almost ran up on his heels and Donoso was compelled to snatch up These two extreme outsiders are both worth watching watchingG G C Winfreys Floridabred Uncle Edgar captured the five furlongs opener by a little more than a length over Wheat ley Stables Tough who led Vera S Braggs Ice Cap by a slightly longer margin Imme ¬ diately after the race Warren Mehrtens who rode Ice Cap claimed foul against Doug Dodson and Eric Guerin who rode the winner and runnerup alleging inter ¬ ference in the final furlong of the straight ¬ away dash After some 15 minutes the stewards announced that the evidence showed no foul had been committed If there was an offender it appeared to be Tough who was trying to bear out Uncle Edgar paid 680 and was timed in 58 58George George M Jacobsons Alairne who was claimed out of his last race from Jack Skirvin moved up a notch in the claiming ranks and scored at the first asking for his new owner when he took the seventh race by almost a length from Harvey Frue haufs Jersey Isle who led Mrs Harry Marts Chrisie Rogers a scant neck while Mrs Mayes Rileys namesake was a weary fourth after setting the pace Eric Guerin rode the winner who returned 890 and stepped the mile and onesixteenth in 146 146This This race was run in three sections for almost a mile with Mayes Riley alone in front Wexford trailing and the other five bunched Mayes Riley ran out of wind and Jersey Isle took a brief lead at the eighth pole then succumbed to Alairne at the end
