Rembird Regains Winning Stride in Detroit Sprint SprintForrest Forrest Filly Takes Measure of Knights Gift in Keene Purse PurseFAIR FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich June 7 Henry Forrests Remolino filly Rembird moved up a notch over her previous out ¬ ing in which she ran second to drive to a length and a half tally in the sixfurlong Ham Keene Purse that saw eight sprinters engaged under claiming tags ranging from 10000 to 9000 and which served as a feature at this Motor City course The winner was favored in the wagering and was fortunate in securing room between horses when the leaders went wide on the stretch turn and it was Mrs E H Beezleys Knights Gift one who suffered when car ¬ ried wide by Warner Hathaways Leap ¬ ing Moose who finished second secondThird Third a similar distance away was M H VanBergs Rose Bed another who was forced wide on the bend into the home lane Rembird was ridden by George Mon son and completed the six furlongs in 112 to return 620 for her third victory of the year yearClear Clear weather greeted the 10509 patrons for the early contests but clouds gathered before the fourth race and there was a definite threat of rain in the air but the downfall did not materialize for the run ¬ ning of the feature featureKnights Knights Gift was waited with closest to the pace of Leaping Moose and on the turn he was sent to the leader at the same time that Rose Bed was asked for speed speedContinued Continued on Page Three Rembird Regains Winning Stride in Detroit Sprint SprintForrest Forrest Filly Takes Measure of Knights Gift in Keene Purse PurseContinued Continued from Page One OneKnights Knights Gift and Rose Bed drove up on almost equal terms with Leaping Moose with Rose Bed on the outside and Knights Gift between the two On the bend Leap ¬ ing Moose swung wide carrying the others out and Monson on Rembird was quick to take advantage of the gap to send Rembird to the front Knights Gift recovered suf ¬ ficiently to offer brief resistance to this bid but Rembird eased away under pressure and Leaping Moose chucked it when headed headedNovice Novice Raymond Gates of Indianapolis was astride the second winner of his career when he held together Doctor L M long enough to retain a nose verdict in the six furlong second race fashioned for novice riders Doctor L M was sent clear shortly after the start but in the stretch he drifted out and was obviously tired as Mannerful who had raced in closest pursuit from the beginning drove up on the outside and just failed to make it The favored Flying Fred ¬ die raced in third position all the way while saving ground and was a length farther back at the end Doctor L M was scoring his first victory in the race which was confined to nonwinners fouryear olds and older olderJesse Jesse Trents Good Daughter provided a surprise in the opener when he drove through on the inside to eke out a nose verdict over Joe War after the latter had taken a short lead in the stretch Here Burning Chipj the oddson choice could do no better than third Good Daughter returned 2960 and started a daily double that was worth 7380 7380Favorites Favorites fared badly in the third and fourth races when Echo Pass choice in the third flattened out badly as Im OSullivan drove to a head verdict over CanJones and Kindly Miss was third in a tight fit Coiffeur most stoutly supported was able to come from last place in the fourth and take second honors to NonFerro after the latter swept around the outside and Coif ¬ feur was being extricated from close Quar ¬ ters on the rail Here Town Talk was third after setting the pace and here again the first three were in close alignment at the end
