Kyne Expresses Thanks For Aid in Flood Area AreaLauds Lauds Work of TRA and Help Given by Golden Gate Fields FieldsSAN SAN MATEO Calif June 10 William P Kyne Bay Meadows general manager today informed his associates of the local track the amount of money that has been raised for the race track people and thor ¬ oughbreds caught in the ravages of the Oregon flood that swept Portland and sur ¬ rounding cities citiesAs As managing director of Portland Mead ¬ ows race course which was completely flooded out Kyne issued the following statement I want at this time to pay tribute to the Thoroughbred Racing Associations pf the United States for their cooperation Their representative Mr Edmund Coffey assistant to Spencer Drayton executive secretary of the TRA has been on the grounds here the past few days and has supplied horsemen with TRA funds who might be found in serious need needThis This relief came from the national organization and from the entire member ¬ ship shipI I want to always remember with a deep feeling of gratification the helping hand that was given Portland Meadows by Golden Gate Fields our friendly Northern California neighbor Through their general manager Prank Clark and treasurer Wil ¬ liam G Gilmore they pledged their fullest cooperation as well as immediately wiring 5000 for the relief of the stranded horse ¬ men menThe The California Horse Racing Board through their chairman Loyd Wright were equally cooperative in this time of disaster disasterThe The California Jockey Club operators of Bay Meadows through its vicepresident Joe Cohen wired lOOOO as their contribu ¬ tion to the flooddisaster that struck the racing fraternity at Portland Meadows I personally have put up 10000 and pf the remainder of the 30000 total contributed to date 5000 came from the TRA through its representative on the scene Mr Coffey CoffeyI I want to thank the press who insti ¬ gated the drive for funds that were so desperately needed for flood relief
