Boost 20 Purses in First Book For Charles Town Meeting CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., June 26. The first issue of the condition books for the summer meeting to commence here July 5 has been issued by racing secretary J. Gilbert Haus, and today the Charles Town Jockey Club announced that 20 of the purses for the first 12 days of racing have been increased. The increases occurred most in the lower-grade events, in which some of the ,000 purses were increased to ,200. The co-feature for opening day, the Tatterdemalion Purse, was raised to a ,500 purse instead of the previously advertised ,200 purse. j
