U _w __ . , , Forty-Eight Nominations Made For Ohio Derby Set for June 25 Nances Lad Expected to Head Starting Field for 0,000 ThistleDown Stake THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 14. — The list of nominees for the twenty-first running of the 0,000 added Ohio Derby was released today and a total of 58 three-year-olds have been named for the Buckeye States oldest and richest stake. Many of the eligibles have won or have placed in stakes during the current season. The Ohio Derby, a nine -furlong test for which nominations closed on June 4, will be contested here at ThistleDown on Saturday, June 25. Inaugurated at Chester Park in Cincinnati in 1876, the Ohio version of the famous English classic is one of the oldest fixtures in American racing. Among the eligibles is Nashua, an extremely doubtful starter. However, definitely pointing for the race is Caithness and Dabsons Nances Lad. Hilton Dabson, who trains and who owns a half interest in this speedy runner, plans to have Nances Lad start in the 0,000 Chicagoan oh Saturday and then shipping him here for the Derby. In 1955 Nances Lad has visited the winners circle in four stakes, the Peter Pan, Fountain of Youth, Hutche-son and Swift. In the last named event, the Dabson entrant toppled Boston Doge from the undefeated ranks. Blazing Count Probable / Another likely starter is the Barclay Stables Blazing Count, who ran a surprisingly good race to place to Nashua in last Saturdays Belmont. Also scheduled to come to ThistleDown for his engagement in the Ohio Derby, is Clifford Mooers Traffic Judge. The latters score in the Withers and a third in the Preakness have been his top efforts in 1955. The strongest entry in point of numbers and possibly also in quality is the quartet of nominees from the Hasty House Farm. Owned by Ohipans Mr. and Mrs. Allie Reuben, Hasty Houses eligibles are Ali-bilt, My Beau, Prince Noor and Summer Solstice. My Beau was one of the top ranking juveniles in Ireland last season; Prince Noor has been a stakes winner in both 54 and 55, and Summer Solstice, after _five British victories was rated as the third best two-year-old in the English Free Handicap.
