He beat the flag several lengths, but pulled back and allowed Epigram to lead to the stretch. Ringleader then went to the front and well nursed, barely lasted long enough. Boland rode a poor race on Duoeo. Even after a poor send-off he would have won with a good ride. Bastile ran his race and had no mischances. Sir Vere de Vere ran a fair race. Lord Ogleby would have about won with an even break. Off next to last he made up much ground. She was interfered with early and fell back, but took the lead in the stretch and won pulling up. Lady of the Valley did not seem to like the mud. Mary McCoy ran a splendid race. She floundered all over the track in the first part of the race and then dropped back, but closed like a shot and would have been Becond in the next stride. Ondurdis showed speed for a half mile and then tired. Animosity will probably run better when next out. The others did their best. Scratched— 19571 Candle, 109; 19152 Guess Work. She moved up to Maximo Gomez from the first quarter, went to the front when ready and won eased up. Maximo Gomez was doing his best. He likes sloppy going better. With a better ride Compensation might have been second. Boyle was of no help to him in the stretch. Scratched— 193343Favonius, 114; 19708 Protus. 108. Queen of Sot g. place, out. Winner— Ch. g. by King Ernest -Trill. Went t post at 3:50. At post 12 minutes. Start fair. Won easily ; second the same. Brazil rode a splendid race on Trillion. He saved ground at all the jumps and that is what won the race for Trillion. He jumped better than the others. Cousin Jess 9tumbled at the last jump, which just about cost him the race. Had Dayton kept closer to the field Baby Bill would have had a better chance. Arquebus was poorly handled by Moxley. He appeared all over the winner when he went to the front five furlongs from home, but Moxley let him fall back from first to last place and then came on again. Cosmopolitan ran well for a time and then tired. Perion seemed like the winner when he fell. Scratched— 18768 The Bachelor. 165. Trillion, place, 8 to 5 ; show, 3 to 5.
