Howling Dervish ran well, but won through a good ride as Bonner put up a powerful finish. Stub snowed the most early speed, but was made too much use of and could have Avon with proper placing. Dotty Shute just lasted long enough to beat Ruralist for second place. The latter finished fast. Miss Aubrey ran poorly. Immortelle got away badly. Scratched— 3S496 Kings Pet, 131. Ben Lear showed the most speed throughout and ran in decidedly improved form under a good ride. El Rey did his best and had. no mishaps. Monos was probably the best, but Bridewell jerked him up at the start and then took him around the whole field. He made up ground fast, but too late. Major Dixon is not right. Banter was favored by the going and best. He was cut off twice, but went around the field, came fast through the stretch and won going away. Brush By was well ridden, had clear sailing throughout and ran a good race, but was tiring at the end. Birch Broom got away poorly and made up much ground. Chamblee was also off poorly and met with interference. Deutschland showed early speed, but quit badly. Mollie T. was much used in chasing Harry Griffith, but held on gamely. Jerry Hunt ran his race. Goudy quit as usual. Harry Griffith showed fine speed and should be kept in mind.
