FIVE LEADING TWO-YEAR-OLDS. In respect to amounts of money won the five leading two-year-olds of 1006 were Electioneer, Sal-vldere. Water Pearl, Court Dress and Peter Pan. They are as a whole not far from being the pick of their age as racers also. There- Is no doubt that Court Dress was the best two-year-old filly of the year although there is some difference of Qpinlon as to the comparative excellence between Salvidere and Electioneer. Before the colt went amiss Mr. Haggln Is credited with saying that Water Pearl, In his opinion, was the best horse ever bred in his stud which was saying a great deal. While not alwnys running to his highest mark some of Peter Pans races were of very high class. If all ot this quintette thrives through the coming winter and spring, great performances may reasonably be expected from them all as three-year-olds next year. Electioneer Is a brown colt, by .Voter Quesal. Ills debut in racing was in a purse at Brighton Beach, July 13. It was a dash ot three-quarters of a mile and he was beaten a head by McCarter in 1:145 after being practically left at the post: but McCarter carried 122 pounds to his 102. July 25, he ran second to Salvidere in the Montauk Stakes, three-quarters In 1:13; Don Enrique was third and McCarter and Dan Buhre were unplaced. At Saratoga, August C, Peter Pan, with 125 pounds up to his 117, beat him a head for the Flash Stakes at five and one-half furlongs time, 1:00?. He beat Arcite a nose for second money and seven others ran unplaced. While not winning, so far his running had been meritorious and consistent, yet hardly of the kind to suggest he w-ould win the Futurity. But that is what he did In his next race. This was at Sheepshead Bay, September 1, when in a field of fifteen starters, he Landed first by a neck in front of Pope Joan, she beating De Mund a head for second money. Yankee Gun, Peter Pan, Yankee Girl, Ballot, Couville, Horace E., Don Enrique. Kentucky Beau, Old Honesty, Altuda, Orau and Purslane were the unplaced ones.
