Sheriff Williams fenced well, finished gamely "Stud just sot up for second place in the last stride. Dick Shaw showed superior early speed, hut tired in the stretch drive. California King refused at the first jump and threw his rider. Belligerent went well iiiic! will improve. Dave Lewis fell at the seventh jump and Larone at the twelfth. Scratched 09030 Grandpa, 102. The latter was always second and Notter made two different challenges with linn, first at the head of the stretch, where he got on almost even terms, and again at the sixteenth post. Vooihees made up much ground and finished fast, but could not get up. Tony Faust ran well and should be improved by the race. Hyperion II., running in suddenly improved form, had Rye beaten and appeared a sure winner fifty yards from the finish, but succumbed right at the end. Rye showed superior early speed, but tired iu the final drive from setting the pace. Masauieilo showed early speed. Angler finished with a rush. Moonshine was knocked down at the start and lost her rider. The winner was entered for ,500; no bid. Say lor was close up from the start and, after being bumped and knocked back on the turn for home, cine on with a rush and got up to win iu the final stride. Orphan Lad ran a good race and, in a fast linish, outstayed F.d Ball for second place. The latter got off badly and. after closing "an immense gap iu the lirsr three-quarters, finally tired from the effort. Anneta Lady ran in much improved form and was a fast going fourth. Nagazan ran well to the stretch and tired, but held on gamely. SulIIce showed the most early sliced, but failed to stay. The winner was entered for ,S00; no bid. Remiss showed the most early speed, but tired In the stretch drive and will do to watch- Al H. Woods made up much ground. Roswell showed speed, but tired.
