WILL APPLY FOR EXTENSION TODAY. Latonia Jockey Club Has Been Waiting on the Situation in Chicago. Cincinnati, O., July 4. The Latonia Jockey Club will tomorrow make formal application to the Kentucky State Itacing Commission for an extension of the meeting now within a week of the scheduled date for closing. This morning a. petition was circulated among the horsemen, but this will not he presented to the Racing Commission. It is explained that the Latonia management has withheld the application for a.n extension until now for the reason that there were strong rumors that racing would be revived in Chicago about July 1. In such an event an extension here would have been inadvisable. Xow, however, the reopening of the Chicago tracks is a remote possibility and horsemen are confronted with the conditions that existed last year.
