Sheriff Williams was reserved under a hard pull in second place for a mile and a half, then leisurely went to the front and was much the best. Blue Pigeon, always within striking distance, challenged gamely in the last quarter, but tired finally. Locked Out made the running on sufferance to the last half, where he was passed after a brief ride, but held on well to the end and finished a close third. Film Flam was. hopelessly outrun throughout. San Alviso made the running undisturbed and, helped by the ridiculously sloy pace, was able to out-sprint the others home through the last quarter. Red Friar, well up from the start, but handicapped by the slow pace, could not quite get up. Littleton Maid, away badly, was rushed up on the heels of the ethers and repeatedly jerked up and failed to come on finally. Daley maintained strenuous early contention with the. pacemaker, which he shook off finally and, coming away in the last furlong, appeared all over the winner, but his rider was caught napping finally. Live Wire, after trailing until nearly at the finish, got up and beat the tiring favorite for third place. Nimbus was short, showed great speed for a half mile, but could not get far away from Lawrence P. Daley and tired badly iu the last furlong. Dandelion, away llatfooted in close inside quarters, closed up rapidly on the extreme outside, got up and lassed the leader on the last turn and won as his rider pleased. Brookdale Nymph, shutlled back repeatedly in the first quarter, improved her position rapidly in the last half and got up on the inside for second place in a belated rush. Ben Ban ran lorwardly throughout and loomed up as a contender for second place midway of the stretch, but tired finally. Beacon Light broke slowly and was outpaced for the first half, then made up much ground and was going like a cyclone at the end. Okenite, nearly left, closed a tremendous gap. Old Honesty steadily improved his position iu the last half. Sewell failed to stay. Carthage was as good as left. Kennvetto was palpablv short and quit badly. Brancas was prominently placed from the start and drew out suddenly in the last sixteenth, but just lasted long enough to land a lucky race. Ostrich, shullled back on the far turn, closed up rapidly and just failed to get up in a whirlwind finish. Quagga made the running undisturbed f or a mile and a quarter and stayed expectedly well to save third place. Good Luck, badly messed about, went wide unJer an inadequate finish and should have won. Banker was pocketed through the last three furlongs and had no chance. Flavigny was placed in the early running, despite the slow pace, and was outsprinted through the last quarter. Countermand stood a game closing drive to save third place, Miss Norfolk came with a rush from the rear. Kings Plate finished like a cyclone, got away poorly and had a rough journey and is promising. Alex Grant loomed up midway of the stretch and quit badly at the end. Rampage closed a huge gup. Adrluche quit.
