NOTES OF THE TURF. Trainer Pierce, who is handling the string of jumpers William Gerst has at New Orleans, thinks the three year-old chestnut colt. Harrington, by He I Maine — Margery, by Macaroon, is the l est horse in the stable. Harrington will be shipped to Nashville soon, where he will be gelded and turned out until slimmer. 1resident Thomas H. Williams of the New California Jockey 0Mb has shipped Altanero and St. George. Jr., two of the California Breeding Bureau Miillimis to their assigned stations. St. George. Jr., will be handled by George K. Shaw in San Benito eoi-nty. and Altanero goes to T. II. Calon of Mereed county. California. It is probable that the yearlings of W. O. Par-nu-is Kdenwold Stud will be sold in Toronto during the second week of the Woodbine spring Meeting, instead of at New York, as in the past. 4 : n.i ii:i n purchasers will tiius be saved the very considerable expense of shipment and other charges that must be met when buying iu the New York market.
