Colston and Ocean Hound having been withdrawn. Woodford Clay, part owner of Ocean Hound, tried to have her declared eligible to start after having ordered her withdrawal, and argued ihe question at length, but to no pur[iose. as the officials flatly refused to jMTinit her to start. Her declaration was due to Mr. Clays belief that the Hack would lie in bad condition, as rain fell last iiglil. The wetting that the track received improved it. for Carlton i. reduced the track mark of 1:53 to the credit of Light Wool and set it at 1:51J. Count less, though carrying 132 pounds, was thought to bold his opponents safe and attracted all the big speculation on the race. T. C. R— Or has it that the Louisville bookmaker made a big cleanup. Ihe .losing dash brought joy to the long shot backers when Ramazun. one of the extreme outsiders, took the pane with Discontent second. The latter was much Hie best, but was practically left at the pout, due to propping. Be closed a Ireineiid oils gap and got second place in the final stride.
