, THOROUGHBRED DEPLETION STILL GOING ON. Stud of Charles Kohler, Including: Uncle and Thirteen Marcs, to Sail for Franco Today. New York, Decemlcr S. Charles Kohler, owner of the greatest racing stable in this country, will leave for England early next month. His mission is to complete the arrangements already planned by Samuel C. Hildreth for racing abroad. In addition to sending Fitz Herbert, Novelty. Zeus, Puggins anil other good racehorses to the other side of the Atlantic, Mr. Kohler will establish a thoroughbred stud in France. To this end he will ship the stallion Uncle and thirteen brootftnares on the Atlantic Transport liner Mlnnetonka, which leaves this port on Saturday next. Mr. Kohler, who is a stockholder in the Saratoga Association for the Improvement of the Breed of Horses, is an enthusiastic sportsman in every sense of the word. It is his idea to test American horses, trained and ridden by Americaus who have attained the top notch of their profession, with the horses of Great Britain, handled by the finished horsemen ot that famous school. During the brief visit of Mr. Hildreth to England he did not settle on any definite training quarters, and several other details will require immediate attention. Mr. Kohler has the plans for his racing stable formulated, but he has deemed it essential to be on the ground at this particular time so that there will be no hitch In a score of matters that every owner of a well regulated stable of big proportions realizes must be covered, especially when racing under rules and conditions never met before. Mr. Kohlers horses went into winter quarters earlv in the fall. This, with their perfect condition, is an assurance that, they will race to their lcst form next season. To Trainer Hildreths credit it may be said that not a member of the collection shows the slightest sign of a bony enlargement. Their tendons and ligaments arc as clean as the day they were foaled. The loss of Uncle to the breeding industry of this country will be appreciated by horsemen throughout the length and breadth of the land. Ho is a son of Star Shoot The Niece, by Alarm. Besides being bred in the purple lie is an exceptionally fine individual for stud services. His first get. foaled at Mr. Kohlers Katnapo Stock Farm in New Jersey, are coming yearlings. Excrienced horsemen are sanguine that the prospects of the band are brilliant. Edward E. Burnett, superintendent of the Itamapo Stud, will accompany the collection that departs on Saturday. Mr. Burnett will take the lot direct to Chantilly, where they will remain until a suitable permanent location is found for them.
