CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. C. W. Wingfiolds two-year-old gelding Avon Carey, racing at Tijuana, is possessed of a good turn of speed and is said to be the best youngster at the Mexican track. A New Yorker just returned from the Crescent City says: "It is not probable the New Orleans management will arrange for two-year-old races next winter. The opinion prevails that the new rule will be strictly adhered to at winter meetings hereafter.** Canadian stakes, besides the Kings Plate, closing on March first, are the Breeders and Maple Leaf Stakes of BBS and the Stanley Preface of MM, The first named two are for Canadian-breds. and the Maple Beaf is confined to fillies.
