WINNERS OF WALDEN Rancocas Stable Captures the First Division with Stanwix. Senator Norris Carries the Kenton Stable Silks to Victory in the Second Division. BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 10. Stanwix, from Harry F. Sinclairs Rancocas Stable, and Senator Norris, carrying the silks of the Kenton Stable, were the winners of the two divisions of the rich Walden Handicap for two-year-olds over the mile distance at Pimlico this afternoon. When Stanwix was first homo it added another ,150 to the worlds record breaking winnings of Mr. Sinclair3 racing establishment, while the victory . ot Senator Norris was worth ,300 to the Kenton Stable. It was a wonderful day of racing that tha Maryland Jockey Club furnished for the final Saturday of its meeting and one of the largest crowds that ever gathered within the gates of old Pimlico graced the occasion. Tho fine liberality in offering two Waldens instead of one made the program one of the greatest of tho fall racing season. Tha weather was ideal and the track at its best There was an unfortunate accident at tha start of the second division of the Walden when Aga Khan, from William Woodwards Belair Stud Stable, was crowded and fell Avith P. Walla. Fortunately the latter was not seriously hurt. There was a delightful setting for the two Walden runnings and in each race the contests furnished rare thills. SCORES CLEAN CUT VICTORT. In the first division of the Walden, Hildreth sent both Stanwix and Mad Play to the Post for the Rancocas stable and the victory of the first named one was a clean cut one over Gifford A. Cochrans Sun-spero, while II. C. Fishers Mr. Mutt, after saving ground at the head of the stretch, outfinished Mad Play, with II. P. Whitneys Transmute a close fifth. Little time was lost at the barrier and the field of an even dozen dashed away in excellent alignment. Sunspero, from a position close to the inside rail, proved to have speed enough to take command and Transmute was right after him, with the others in close order. On the first turn as Fabian bore over slightly on Transmute, McAtce held him off with his right hand, but he did not seem to impede the Taral colt and he was not impeded himself. Through the backstretch Sunspero, saving ground next to the inner rail, continued to show the way and Baffling and Mad Play followed him, while McAtee was sending Tinijsmute along within striking distance and Fabian was outside of him. Stanwix had been outrun early, but he was galloping strongly and well out from the inside raiL SINEW-STRAINING FINISn. Fabian for an instant moved up slightly, but Transmute held him. Mr. Mutt was gradually working his way up on the inside and there was a closing up back of tho Cochran colt at the head of the stretch. Sunspero began to tire and there it was that Stanwix had circled around and he was in the picture. Transmute tired under tha drive of McAtee, but Mr. Mutt continued to run fast next to the inside rail. Sunspero stuck to his task gamely, but he could not withstand the rush of Stanwix and at the end he was beaten a length," while he was a like distance beforo Mr. Mutt, with Mad Play and Transmute closely lapped back of him. A rare finish came out of the running of the second division of the Walden Stakes when Senator Norris and W. R. Coes Lady Belle fought it out, Avith the colt Avinning by a head. Three lengths back of tho pair came the Glen Riddle Farms Big Blaza and Abe HalloAvs II. T. Waters, after forcing or making most of the pace, Avas fourth. Milton had considerable trouble with this field and Big Blaze Avas chiefly to blame. Finally, Avhen tho barrier rose Avith the field Continued on twelfth vase. WINNERS OF WALDEN Continued from first pace. well aligned, Big Blaze ran out sharply and piled up horses until Aga Khan was bumped and knocked down. "Walls was particularly fortunate in escaping with no other injury than a shaking up. Bracadale was rushed away and Clarence Kummer sent IL T. Waters after him from his outside position. Lord Baltimore IL was also up with the leaders and the others were fairly Well bunched, with Gonfalon, the "Whitney starter, one of the far-back followers, while Beau Butler, winner of the Pimlico Futurity, was another that was outrun after having met with interference on the first turn. Bracad-dale and H. T. "Waters were sprinted along in front through the backstretch and the Rancocas colt was the first one to tire. As he dropped back beaten Kummer sent H. T. Waters into a good lead and three-eighths from the finish he was going so well that he seemed all over the winner. But there was a closing up back of him and Callahan was working his way through with Lady Belle, while Senator Norris was also Improving his position. Lord Baltimore II. was tiring, but Big Blaze had made a move on the outside that appeared threatening, but he was forced to come wide and tired just when ho seemed to have his chance. In the stretch Callahan squeezed through with Lady Belle and she was answering his call resolutely, but was in close quarters and when Senator Norris rushed up outside of her he readily disposed of Big Blaze and then just nodded down in front of her under a furious drive. H. T. Waters was a close fourth after all the use that had been made of his speed, and Sun Flag followed him home when ho ran past the quitting Bracadale in the last sixteenth. Avisack, as consistent a sprinter as has raced all year, furnished a surprise in the three-quarters, for all ages, that was the fourth on the card, when she took the measure of Gifford A. Cochrans Goshawk. The recent form of Goshawk made it appear a good spot for him, but when the filly drew up on him in the stretch, she readily out-footed him to win in 1:11. Johnny Callahan shared in the victory for he had the mount and it was his second winner of tho day. On the way to the post Toil ran off with Eddy Kummer and it was not until the turn out of the back stretch that he was pulled up. The start was a good one and Goshawk at once opened up a good lead and Hastings had him under restraint The others were closely bunched back of him and Avisack had an outside position and was going exceedingly well. Callahan timed his running and when tho filly was called on she readily shook off the others and was almost alongside Goshawk before Hastings realized the danger. When he did it was altogether too late for the filly went on by, and at the end she had a length to spare. Five lengths back of Goshawk, Strut Miss Lizzie had no trouble beating Betty Beall for the short end of the purse. .
