NOMINATIONS FOR FAIRHOUNT DERBY ♦ One Hundred and Twenty-Five Three-Year-Olds Named for the 5,000 Feature of Collinsville Spring Meeting ♦ COLLINSVILLE, 111., April 9. — The leading owners of America have nominated their best eolts and fillies for the Fairmount Derby, to be run Saturday, June 4. and in the list of eligibles made public today by general manager C. Bruce Head will be found nearly every three-year-old of note in this country. The race will have an added money value of 5,000. A feature of the list is the number of colts bred in England that have been nominated. These imported candidates include The Satrap, the best two-year-old of the 1926 racing season in England: Justice F., winner of the Tijuana Derby; Kentucky II., Kiev, a gray son of Stefan the Great, and Enthusiastic Edward. Another feature is the number of sons of Man o War that have been named. These include Purple Pirate, War Eagle, Ship o War and Son o Battle. Four of the outstanding colts of the winter racing season were Justice F., Boo, Sir Harry and Fred Jr. Sir Harry won the Cof-froth Handicap ; Boo, the Louisiana Derby ; Fred Jr.. the Mardi Gras Handicap and was second in the Louisiana Derby. They are all nominated for the Fairmount Derby and will have a chance to settle the question of supremacy when they meet at the Collinsville course. From the Idle Hour Farm of Colonel E. R. Bradley, home of Derby winners, five nominations have been received: Bewithus, Buddy Bauer, Belgenland, Boo. winner of the Louisiana Derby, and Birley M. C. Mrs. Payne Whitney has nominated Peter Peter, Overlooked, Saxon and Adios, and would be very much pleased to win this race for sentimental reasons, as she is a native of Illinois. Harry Payne Whitney has named six, including Valorous, Bostonian, Night Mail, Byrd, Afterglow and Whiskery. Joseph E. Widener won the first Fair-mount Derby with Haste, and this year he will make a strong bid for the race with six formidable candidates : Osmand, Chance Shot, Kiev. Laddie, Royal Play and Gormand. Of this lot Osmand is a strong favorite and will be ridden by Earl Sande, the premiere jockey of America. The complete list of nominations follows : THE IAIRMOINT DERBY— r.. 100 added.
