CAMDEN FILLY SCORES Flattery Gallops Fastest Mile of Washington Park Meeting Miss Rosedale and Broomster in inThrilling Thrilling Finish With Mare MareWinner Winner in Final Strides HOMEWOOD 111 June 7 Running the fastest mile of the present meeting J N Camdens threeyearold filly Flattery won from some good horses which started in the Prospect Purse at one mile featured Wash ¬ ington Parks program today todayFlattery Flattery came away to an easy victory in the last eighth but up to that stage she did not race promisingly enough to indicate suc ¬ cess for her herShe She appeared to have stumbled soon after the start and it left her far back but she managed to regain a prominent position in the first halfmile and was close in the wake of Chaff Dimple Dunkie and Bob Rogers the leaders Chaff continued to show the way until well into the stretch where the others began gaining on her and in the final drive that followed under hard riding Flattery managed to draw away from the others Dimple Dunkie also responded gamely near the end and overhauled Bob Rogers for second place Chaff quit almost to a walk in the last sixteenth Aregal one of the well backed ones raced in dull fashion and was far out of it all the way waySTURDY STURDY STELLA UNRULY UNRULYThe The chief incident of the afternoons racing came with the second race when Sturdy Stella one of the wellbacked ones while going to the post managed in some way to straddle the inner fence and it took a big force of men to extricate her from her posi ¬ tion It was done by bodily lifting her and throwing her to the ground She was badly stunned by the fall and stayed motionless on the ground for some time but finally managed to rise She was badly bruised about the legs from her efforts to get clear of the fence and also appeared exhausted from her contact with the ground after be ¬ ing thrown and the stewards permitted her withdrawal withdrawalSome Some of her backers unacquainted with racing rules that she was in the hands of the starter made some fuss about their money being returned It was explained to them that she was regarded as a starter and that all wagers on her were lost lostImprovement Improvement continues at Washington Park and todays attendance numbered considerable in excess of former crowds ex ¬ cepting Saturdays Betting activities also were considerably heavier The track showed improvement and with no more rain should bo racingThe at its best for Wednesdays racing The finish of the fifth race at one mile out of the chute was a thriller with Miss Rosedale just getting home in advance of Broomster by a matter of inches The pair fought it out all during the last eighth Broomster gradually gaining on Miss Rose dale but he still lacked a few inches at the finish Samaron finished in third place after having made a splendid effort in the last eighth Fore Star was the disappointment in the race The Bedwell representative having confident support acted badly at the post and never figured prominently at any stage stageFAVORITE FAVORITE SCORES SCORESH H P Gardners Seventeen Sixty outstand ¬ ing favorite had comparatively an easy time of it in the third race which brought two yearolds to the post He led for the entire distance and had considerable margin on Bogan at the end Bogan came with a rush in the stretch and had no difficulty taking second place from Long Ridge RidgeThe The opener found Scotland Girl the vic ¬ tress She raced in her best form and under a good ride by E Pool came away In the stretch to win with much in reserve from placeBasket Indra with True Pal in third place Basket Picnic was returned winner of the sixth race which was also at one mile out of the chute He won under restraint after having overhauled Rocking the early pace ¬ maker Stoneage was probably best in the race but he was allowed to race far back for the first threequarters and responded gamely when urged He was going much faster than the leaders at the end Basket Picnic was second choice Rocking being slightly favored over him MORE Ry The frequently offending Bolivar Bond again disappointed when he failed to out ¬ stay Spellbinder in the final race The pair engaged in a spirited battle in the last eighth Spellbinder finished gamely and was winner by half a length Bolivar Bond was only half a length in advance of Magic Light The latter acted badly at the post and was considerably used up before the start startStarter Starter Harry Morrissey will begin school ¬ ing at Lincoln Fields and one of his assist ¬ ants will be at the Crete track each morn ¬ ing excepting Sunday for that purpose P Hebert was among the newcomers to join the riding ranks at Homewood
