DISCARD STARTING MACHINE Delegation of Owners at Fair-mount Park Request Use of Former Starting Method. COLLIXSVILLE, 111., June 20.— A delegation of the horsemen racing at Fairmount Park paid a call upon and held an indignation meeting with general manager C. Bruce Head in the latters offices here this morning. The object of their ire was the use at this track of the Waite starting machine, which has been used in starting the majority of the races at this meeting. On behalf of the horsemen now campaigning their stables here, the spokesman for the delegation stated that it would meet with their favor were the association to discontinue the use of the stait-ing machine The matter was taken into consideration by general manager Head, who later announced that, as the Fairmount Jockey Club desired to please the owners in every way, the starting machine would no longer be used at Fairmount Park.
