RENEWED came strongly in the stretch and outlasted BIG PLAY. The latter and ZONE tired in the first eighth. BLACK WEST showed early speed. BROWN BONNET and MAJOR LANPHIER began poorly. LE BRUYERE dashed to the front from an outside position soon after the start and held on well when challenged, but was not good enough. METAURUS, close up from the start, outlasted LERACK. PORTCODINE, never far back, forged to the front in the stretch and held PORTMANTEAU in a driving finish, but was disqualified for bearing over and interfeiing with BLACK COMET and STOCK MARKET in the stretch. PORTMANTEAU raced on the outside early and was forced to go to the center of the track to get around the leaders in the stretch. GRAND PRINCE was close up throughout. BLACK COMET set the pace and was racing well when he met interference from PORTCODINE. STOCK MARKET showed early speed, but was eliminated through interierence. CAYUGA tired after showing early speed. BACK LOG was rut off in the stretch. MAD CAREER refused to extend himself. GAY BIRD tired. DIS DAT followed the pace closely under light restraint and, wearing down BLACKSTRAP in the ttretch, won handily. BLACKSTRAP came through on the inside of VA CARRIENDO after going a quarter, took a short lead while still under mild restraint, but was not good enough. DURANGO was racing gamely at the end. LATE DATE, showing great improvement, was close up at all times, challenged gamely in the stretch, but was inclined to swerve and bumped the winner repeatedly, but barely missed. I SAY quit badly in the last quarter and was being eased up at the finish. DEPRESSION was a trailer most of the way. IN HASTE dropped back after racing on even terms with CHEHALIS on the back stretch, then came to the outside of the latter, opened up a good lead, but tired in the stretch. CHEHALIS quit badly. TIGER FLOWERS was badly outrun early. BOBBY POWERS showed early speed. CHUM could never reach the leaders. DUELIST loomed up dangerously after leaving the back stretch, then tired and pulled up lame.
