TRIM NAVAL BUDGET WASHINGTON, D. C, April 24. In reporting the annual naval supply bill, the house appropriations committee slashed 7,-657,586 from President Roosevelts budget estimates for the navy. This action threatened to slow the navys huge building program. The most outstanding cut was halving the budget proposal of 9,380,000 to begin construction of twenty-four new fighting ships.
