National Body to Work On Plans for HBPA Home HomeSabath Sabath Named Chairman Gilmore And McCreery Members of Group GroupAQUEDUCT AQUEDUCT L L N Y June 5 Plans are progressing rapidly for the establish ¬ ment of a home for aged and indigent horsemen by the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association Maj Thomas M McCreery president of HBPA said at Aqueduct today A national committee has been formed with Al Sabath the chairman and Bob Gilmore and Major McCreery members In addition each of the seven branches of HBPA will form a subcom ¬ mittee consisting of a vicepresident and two directors he will choose chooseThe The trustees for the fund to acquire and maintain this much needed home for vet ¬ eran horsemen will be the president of each racing association and the chairmen of the racing commissions in each state where the HBPA functions These men will handle the money McCreary said while HBPA will do the work The National City Bank of New York is being approached with a view to its handling the account accountAt At the present time the committee ap ¬ proves a Kentucky site for the proposed home but the actual location will be sub ¬ mitted to vote by the members of the asso ¬ ciation It is hoped that sufficient funds will be raised by the end of 1944 to have the retreat ready to receive the former grooms exercise boys jockeys and trainers who need its facilities
