- _ Recent Death of In Memoriam At E. D. Axton Farm Reported The recent death, on May 18, of In Memoriam, well known racer at Midwest tracks in the twenties, at E. D. Axtons Woodsacres Farm at Skylight, Ky., was re- ported here yesterday. The son of McGee- Enchantress II. was 25 at the time of his passing and was buried at the Axton farm. In Memoriam was bred by Col. Phil T. Chinn and raced for Carl Wiedemann. Although he won the Illinois Derby and Latonia Championship Stakes, he gained most fame for his race against Zev in a special event at Churchill Downs on November 17, 1923, for a 0,000 purse. Zev received the decision in a close finish which many of In Memoriams admirers didn t agree with.
