Churchill Downs Wagering Records Set on Derby Day LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 11.— Saturdays seventy-first Kentucky Derby Day at ; Churchill Downs was the biggest, from a 1 wagering standpoint, in the entire history of the event. A total of 76,408 was wagered on the Derby, alone, eclipsing by 1,538, the ; previous high Derby pool, of 94,870, established . in 1926. The total handle of the , day ,380,796 on the nine-race program, shattered the previous high of ,139,982, which was wagered at Churchill Downs on J Derby Day last year. The pool on the Derby last year was 51,444.
