H. R. Harnish Named Assistant General Manager at Hollywood INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 28.— H. R. Bert" Harnish, who has announced his resignation as director of the Southern California War Manpower Commission, effective July 20, 1945, will become assistant general manager of the Hollywood Turf Club, Jack F. Mackenzie, general manager of the club, announced today. Mackenzie stated: "The Hollywood Turf Club considers itself extremely fortunate in securing Mr. Harnish as a member of its executive staff. Mr. Harnish, during the past four years, has made an outstanding contribution to the war effort as manpower director for southern California." Harnish has been associated with the southern California manpower problem for nearly a decade. He left the hotel business early in 1936 to head the southern California branch of the California State Department of Employment, which admin-1 istered the states free job finding activl-i ties, its unemployment insurance, and the U. S. Employment Service. Early in 1942 Harnish became head of I the southern California WMC activities.
