NOTES OF THE TURF Arthur Duffy the wellknown welkin turfman Truman who was ruled off at Latonia Antonia on the statements of Jockey Aker Baker that he tried to persuade him to ride with an electric saddle will apply for rein ¬ statement at the next meeting of the Turf Con ¬ gress egress Duffy has recovered from the illness which prevented him from appearing before the Latonia Antonia judges in his own behalf and he has strong evidence to prove that he was guiltless of any wrongdoing or attempts to get Aker Baker to use an electric saddle Duffy is entitled to a hearing and his story does not put Aker Baker in a very enviable light Cincinnati Commercial Tribune TribuneJudge Tribune Judge L P Tarltou Carlton was much impressed by what he saw at Washington Park recently and interviewed in Cincinnati said The game at Washington Park is simply magnificent Of course there is the usual hue and cry about crooked races but in the main the sport is very clean and inviting The betting ring is alive with money I was standing near George Roses book one day last week and noticed a tremendous line facing the cashier I asked Rose if he lost heavily on the race and he said No I won 300 but I handled 7000 on the race Ed Austin Marcus Cartwright Cartridge and Riley Grannan Granada all handle big money on each race and the fur flies when the heavy bet ¬ tors torso get together
