1 j 3 f f 1 e g , NOTES OF THE TURF. Owners who have taken their horses to Saratoga to give them a vacation and with no intention of running them are to receive a few knockout drops. They will be notified they must enter and race their horses. They will be charged a day stabling expenses for each horse. One owner has forty resting at Horse Haven at the expense of the racing association. Briar Sweet was running easily in the great mile race at Brighton, won by Imp, when she went lame. She seemed to have the field safe when she stopped under Maher. Trainer Jennings could not say whether Bho stepped on a stone or went lame for some other reason. He does not regard the mares trouble as serious. William C. Whitney lost by death at LaBelle Stud Farm tbe famous broodmare Roseville, by Reform Albia, by Alcim. She was the dam of Ben Brush, Bonita Brush and other good ones. She was 11 years old and leaves a suck- ling filly, full sister to Ben Brush, The Coney Island Jockey Club intends to make a new departure and will race every day during the autumn meeting. Racing six days a week will be a novelty at Sheepshead, but will be enjoyed by race goers, as there is no handsomer course in the country. Mr. Pierre Lorillard will send The Chamber-lain to England and race David Garrick in this country. It is rumored that Tod Sloan will have the mount on Maribert in the Futurity, Sydney Paget has become dissatisfied with the way Dick Claweon has been riding of late, and has decided to set him down for thirty days. 1 . , 1 t
