NOTES OF TELE TURF. J. B. B., Chicago : 1 A parolee bet on three horses to run second wins when two run second and the third, there being no place odds against it, runs third or unplaced. There being no oddB for place against the horse that ran third or unplaced it drops out as a factor. 2 A parolee on three horses with a stipulated limit of S100 of winnings is not terminated if the winnings on the flrfct two horses amount to 00 or more. It must remain in controversy until the three horses have run and if the third horse loses the bet ia lost. The fast race mare Madrilene by Fonso Peg Woffington, by Longfellow, is dead at the farm of her owner, T. C. McDowell. Madrilene won a number of races during her career on the tnrf, running a half mile in 0:50 and air furlongs in 1 :13t, as a two-year-old. She was a half sister to the sonsational David Garrick, and had been in the stud but one year. Subscriber, Chicago. As a two-year-old Hamburg was beaten as follows : By Bowling Brook and Laudeman at Shoepshead Bay in the the Double Event June 22, 1897. By Archduke at Saratoga August 6. By Requital at Sheeps-head Bay September 1, and by Previous at tha Eame track September . As a three-year-old he was beaten by Bowling Brook and Previous in the Belmont at Morris Park May 26, 1898. Alfred Lakeland, well known as a trainer, and a brother of William Lakeland, who is oven better known in the turf world, is in BeUevue Hospital.
