NOTES OF THE TURF. J. B. McDonald haB returned from Francs, after having safely landed Mr.W. K.Vanderbilts stallion Halma and mares at the breeding farm at Villa Bonne, France. The trip was remark, able, in two weeks to a day from leaving Lexington, Ky., the horses were in their new home. Mr. McDonald has engaged "Eddie" Hughes to train the horses now in France to be raced there next year. Hughes trained " Jere" Dunns f am-ons mare Sunny Slope, also the good horse Jack Point. The good brown mare Hypatia foaled in 1879, by Waverly, out of Sister to Buric, by Sovereign, and she out of Levity, by TruBtse, is dead at the Balgowau Stud. Hypatia was the dam of Hypocrite the dam of Admiration, Gen. Miles, Bose Standish, etc. May Kennedy, dam of OConnell, Ed Austin and many other winners, is thought to be safely with foal to Sorcerer. The yearling filly by St. Florian, out of May Kennedy, is growing into an excellent individual. Bab, Ordnung, Lady Meddlesome and other horses belonging to John F. Bchorr, which he left in California last spring, are being given slow work at Oakland and will be ready for early racing. The bay horse Compensation, 5, by Tournament Citronella, the property of B. E. Beach-fell at Saratoga on August 25. broke his leg and was shot.
