It waB a great struggle for flret honors between Badge Bell and Elbe in the last furlong, the former staying best and being best ridden at. the end. Economic was coming strongly at the finish. Janowood closed a big gap. St. Wood was crowded out of the race on the backBtretch and Bulked and was eased up. Falella showed early speed. Lady Eztll threw her rider when going to the post, injuring his knee. She ran away three and three-quarter miles and was excused and money-refunded.
