NOTES OF THE TURF. Word comes from Lexington, Ey., that John E. Madden has refused to price Ogden, purchased of William Lakeland a few days ago, to J. N. Camden of the Hartland Stud, who lost his stallion Esher by death. Madden was never known before to refuse to price, a horse. Ogden won the Futurity and after doing Btud duty in Montana, raced with preat success this year. Madden says ho baB wanted an English horse that could win in America and in Ogden he has a horse the value of which cannot be estimated. Dr. H. E. Rowell has purchased a filly bred at the Down Btock Farm of California. He says that she worked an eighth when ready and asked in 12 seeends. is the doctor raced Figaro, her sire, he is more than pleased with his purchase, and intends Bending several of his mares to the County Down next season to bread to Mb old favorite, Figaro. Among the additional bookmakers who are expected to draw in at Ban Francisco before the first of the "year are George Boles and Al Btokes, from New York, and Fred Cook,Nwho is juBt out of a 8t.
