The latter was beat, but was excessively forced along in the bad going by Belle of Lexington, which stopped to a walk. Dublin, away slowly closed ground and finished very strong. Ben MacDhui closed a big gap from a bad break. Sadducee disliked the muddy going and can do better. Honolulu shows gradual improvement. Criterion outclassed the field, beat the gatet made the most of the advantage and drew clear in the last quarter. He won going away. Nugget, evidently in good form, held on remarkably well with the winner for seven furlongs and was easily second best. Arak, also fresh and good and favored by the going, was prominent throughout and came away strongly from Alacks challenge at the end. Wannakee, running in the bad going, followed the winners fast pace closely and very gamely stalled off Sparkle Eshers rush at the end. 1 The latter got away badly and came from a long way back. Lady Chariot cot off poorly and was musk interfered with. Birch Broom was closing up strongly at the end. Southern Belle ran in improved form. Cuspidor, under good handling, finished fast and saved second place from the badly ridden Tom Kenny. The latter can do much better. Vincitor closed up fast at the end. Numeral quit badly. Fandir Knight went a good six furlongs. Lombre is evidently of little account this year. Scratched 32021 Peninsula, 106. His Eminence, show, 1 to 2. Cuspidor, show, evens. Tom Kenny, show, 3 to 5.
