Optimo had lots of speed in the going, picked up his field gradually and won going away. He was well ridden. Macon, at home in the going, ran an extra good race. Mr. Pomeroy was running strongly when Hope took him up and placed him under heavy restraint for the first half. He took him from third to last place, held him there to the three-eighths post and then made his run. He closed ground rapidly, but could not get up. De Blaise had speed, but stopped.
