Hanover Quean displayed the most speed, revelled in the going and won much as her rider pleased. Stuyve stood off C. B. Campbells bid in the last sixteenth with great determination. The latter closed up fast while coming down the last quarter and ran to his best form. Herodiade was not in his stride when the flag fell, but made up ground fast in the first half, which took all the strength out of him and he had nothing left to finish with. She appeared to be beaten off turning for home, but moved up very fast down the last quarter and fairly ran away from her field. Esherin ran a splendid race, making up much ground and finished fast. Lady Jocelyn also made up much ground from a poor beginning. Albemarle showed early speed, but was tiring fast at the end. Ontonagon had enough a sixteenth out. Tom Cogan, always within easy distance of the leader, moved up fast when well turned for home and outstayed Dick Welles. The latter ran a rather dull race, but was carried very fast in the first half by Stem Winder. Ho was under keen pressure all through the last quarter. Stem Winder had enough a furlong out, but sec a fast pace to the head of the stretch. All three swuDg to the extreme outside rail for the good going at the head of the stretch. Blessed Damozel threw her jockey at the post and ran away two miles. She was excused and a delay of twenty minutes was announced. Pompino finished strongly, but wob simply because Lyne outrode Nutt in the closing strides.. Delia Ostrand interfered with Pompino in the last sixteenth. Nntt lost control of her for a moment in the closing strides and foolishly drew his whip. This lost him the raca. Boomerack showed sudden improvement. Ho displayed much speed for five and a half furlongs, but tired fast in the last sixteenth. Hylo ran well for six furlongs. Bedner showed early speed. Vassal Dance ran far below his best form.
