Winner Br. c, by G. W. Johnson Floroon trained by H. Mason. Went to post at 3 :20. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving ; second easily. Ahumada, from a lucky start, showed the way from Start to finish and displayed a high order of speed and gameness. He was undoubtedly best and is probably above the average caliber. Cinquevalli waited on the winner, but OConnors hard effort to overhaul him in the stretch proved unavailing. Warte Nicht went wide on the turn and finished well. Niaxus, always prominent, tired right at the end. Witfull closed a big gap from a bad start. Pagus broke flatfooted and met with considerable interference on the far turn. Ahumada, show, 4 to 1. Cinquevalli, show, 1 to 2. Warte Nicht, show, 3 to 5. Q Q K l A FOURTH RACE 1 1-4 Miles. 3-year-olds and upward. Q Q Q Vj: The Brighton Handicap. ,000 added. Jfet valne to winner ,920. Winner B. c, by The Bard Heel and Toe trained by M. Allen. Went to post at 3 :53. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won handily ; second driving. Gold Heels, which, in spite of the terrific pace of the first half, was well in hand, went up to the pacemaker, Herbert, on the backstretch, carried him another heart-breaking furlong and then went on about his business, a sure winner, barring accident, although hand ridden right at the end to stall off Blues tremendous rush. The latter ran a great race and showed remarkable improvement. Argregor steadily improved his position in the last mile, and, finishing very strongly, ran a high class race. Ten Candles went well throughout and was going strongly at the end. Herbert tired and quit after his brush with Gold Heels. Mornmgside fell back unaccountably on the first turn and was probably jumped upon. She made up a lot of ground in the last half. Northern Star ran a fast three-quarters. The time is a new record for the distance. Scratched 32909 Petra II., 93; 335022Keynote, 90. Gold Heels, show, 1 to 4. Blues, show, 6 to 5. Argregor, show, 2 to 1. Morningside, show. 4 to 5. Won easily; second driving. Decoration came on strongly when straightened for home and won going away. Monte Carlo displayed his usual speed and held on well at the end, due to the soft going which prevailed during the race. Considerable rain had fallen, but not enough to make the going muddy. Birch Broom was going well at the end. Anna Daly was well up for the first half. SIXTH BACE 1 1-16 Miles 00added- 3-year-olds and upward. Winner Ch. m, by Kismet Joiza trained by W. Hueston. Went to post at 4:50. At post 5 minutes. Start very bad. Won driving ; second the same. Fatalist is greatly improved this year. Although handicapped by sloppy going she finished very strongly and wore Early Eve down at the end. The latter beat the gate and made the most of her advantage, but was tiring badly in the last quarter and ran like a non-stayer. Criterion was left standing but went after his field and made up twenty lengths on the leaders and was much the best. Moranda is improving and showed a fine turn of speed. Numeral disliked the going. Locket was left with Criterion and made up considerable ground. Scratched 29626 SirEges, 123; 33309 Sweet Tooth, 107; 33480 Gulden, 106; 33445 Rightaway, 94. Fatalist, show, evens.
