LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. A. Simons purchased from P. Dunne, before the first race yesterday, the two-year-old colt Senor for ,700. Although he ran in Dunne s colors, had he won, the purse would have gone to Simons. Jockey Ransom was suspended four days by the starter for disobedience at the post in the first race. Jockey Helgesen was fined 5 in the same race for breaking through the barrier. Henry McDaniels stated yesterday that Abe Frank would be a sure starter in the Drexel Stakes, which is to be run Tuesday. W. Burke purchased from Ben Knapp the two-year-old filly Amusement, by Lamplighter Lady Winkle, for 00. VincenneB was bid up to ,100 and knocked down to W. Norvell, who was acting for A. Simons. Federals defeat in the fourth race was a blow to the heavy operators aa he was considered the best; investment of the day. Knight complained to the judges that Mathews, who rode Flying Torpedo, had struck Six Shooter with his whip across the nose when the latter drew alongside in the stretch. Jockey Meade also complained to the officials that Mathews had bumped into Nitrate", and impeded the horses progress.
