He took kindly to the soft going, showed a good deal of speed, simply played with his field and was eased up all through the last sixteenth. Bragg was easily the best of the others. Martin Burke made up ground in the last quarter and finished strongly. Picquart ran well for a half mile. Red Hook appeared to labor heavily in the going. Stem Winder showed a clever turn of speed and simply ran away from his field. Gregor K. finished strongly and was much the best of the others. Watoma made up much ground in the last quarter, finishing with resolution. AlicA Cry was spent when the pinch came. An Revoir, off flying, was run into early submission by Stem Winder. He probably runs best on a fast track. Topsoil was away poorly, hurried, and didnt appear to get into his stride until the first half had been run and then he closed up ground fast. Pompino began slowly, but finished with great force. He hung just a trifle in the closing strides. Evelyn Byrd tired fast when tho pinch came. She ran her race at that. Little Gem had enough when well straightened for home. Pyrrho showed oarly speed. Ordnung looked to have a winning chance in the last eighth, but was pinned against the inside rail and had to be pulled up. Preetorius showed scant speed.
