Lampoon was much the best, showed a sharp turn of speed and won all the way as her rider pleased. Almaric showed improvement. He moved up fast in the last quarter next to the inside rail and finished strongly. Pure Dale had enough a furlong out. Senator Morrison appeared to labor in the soft, lumpy going. He showed little speed and was never in the hunt. He showed lameness aft9r his preliminary, but was not excused. .King Dodo showed early speed. Lampoon, show, 1 to 2. Almaric, show, 3 to 1. Won easily ; second handily, Miss Manners, outrun by Penance in the first three furlongs, moved up fast entering the last quarter and came away without much trouble in the last sixteenth, finishing strongly. Penance showed much speed, but hung badly when challenged by the winner in the last eighth. Goody Two Shoes was hemmed in against the inside rail by Penance in the final eighth, otherwise she would have had a good chance to finish second. Jelsi was never a serious contender and showed but scant speed. She made up ground in the final quarter. The others were never in the hunt. Miss Manners,-show, 9 to 10. Penance, show, 4 to 5. Picquart showed sudden improvement stood a long last eighth drive and-gradually wore down Little Scout in the closing strides. The latter tired fast when the pinch came. Coburn tried to rally iiim in the last fifty yards, but he hung palpably. He was bumped slightly by Picquart in the last sixteenth, but it hardly changed the result. Coburn lodged a claim of foul, but it was not allowed. Archie tired fast in the final eighth. Digby Bell ran well for six furlongs. Marcos ran as if not nearly up to a race. Simoon might as. well have remained in his stall. Overweights Picquart, 2 pounds. Picquart, show. 1 to 2. Little Scout, show, out. Archie, show, 2 to 1. QQQyf Q FOURTH RACE -7-8 Mile. Bragg and Brulare ran almost as one horse after the first sixteenth had been run. In the last sixteenth it appeared as if Brulare would win, but Ranch rallied Bragg with all the strength he could summon and the good finish told. None but tho judges were in a position to say positively which horse won. Vnlcain tired fast when tho struggle in the last furlong came up. Form showed early speed. Tom Kingsleys effort was a farce. Old Mike ran a surprisingly good race and stood a long drive all through the stretch with gameness. Add finished strongly and would have been second in another stride. Declaimer was all tangled up in tho first half and hardly got clear sailing until well straightened out for home, when he finished strongly on his own courage. B. G. Fox showed early speed, as did About. Haydon had enough after running well for a half mile. Braw Lad appeared stiff and sore going to the post and ran like it. Delia Ostrand, show, 1 to 2.
