Woodlake ran like a different horse with blinkers on. He lacked his usual dash and brilliancy, got away slowly and was pocketed and interfered with, then closed up fast and gamely under, punishment at the ond, but was lucky to beat Prediction. Tho latter drow clear in the stretch after disposing of Monte Carlo, and Shaw, taking matters comfortably, was caught napping. Monte Carlo was favored by the slow going, sustained his fine speed well and at tho weight was a good colt. Roxboro quit after going a quarter. Queen Bou La showed a fast move on the far turn and will be heard from. Woodlake, show, out. Prediction, show, out. Monte Carlo, show, 4 to 5. Par Excellence broke flatfooted, but made up ground gradually, picking the best going and when with clear sailing finished with a rush at the end. Ascension, favored by tho cuppy going and a fast beginner, held a good position throughout and with her speed carefully reserved to the stretch where she came away an apparent winner, but lost in tho last strides. Plohn, crowded back at the start and his chances practically destroyed on tho first turn from repeated interference, closed a tremendous gap and finished like a whirlwind and was best. Georgia Gardner ran far above her form, apparently. Black Dick, nearly left, made up fifteen lengths on the leaders. Animosity was poorly handled, shut off on both turns and in a hopeless pocket in the last quarter, was probably as good as the winner. Potente has developed pronounced quitting tendencies. Heroics could be dropped into a softer spot and Ecore. Scratched 33748 Peninsula, 10S; 33678 Satire, 103; 33213 Anecdote. 101; 32821 Meistersinger, 96; 32387 Kaleidoscope. 91; 33159 May J , 89. Numeral, in rare form and handicapped ! the going, was always prominent and finished with a rush at the end. Sun Shower, fresh and good, also closed up fast in the last quarter. Sombrero broke badly and waiting tactics proved disastrous. Barouche displayed good speed and held on well. Northern Star quit after leading under restraint for tho first half. Dr. Saylor, on the outside iu the good going, gradually improved his position and came with brilliant speed through the last furlong and was best. Eva Russell followed Joe Cobbs fast early pace closely and rather easily disposed of his pretensions in the last quarter, but was disqualified for slightly boring in when a furlong out. Joe Cobb, under a weak ride, did not show his true form. Ringdove is a good colt, Out had no chance with a bad jockey, but was going strongly at the end. Mount Hope failed to stay.
