Worthington got up to Siphon in the stretch and raced him into subjection, but was driving to the limit at the end to stall off Illowaho and just managed to last long enough. Illowaho fought it out gamely and would have won in another stride. Minder lost his whip on the backstretch and was handicapped when it came to a pinch. Siphon was made too much use of early and had nothing left at the finish. The Common showed some improvement. Easy Street had no mishaps. This was not his race and he can do better. Start good. Won driving ; second easily. Imperialist was the best ridden, Brazil had him under restraint until in the last turn of the field. He was doing his best all of the last quarter to stall off Hand Vice. With riders reversed Hand Vice could not have lost. Dosh let him stumble and go to his knees a couple of times and when he made his move he rushed his mount up too fast. Sauber was used too much in setting the pace and tired. Terry Ranger fell at the sixth jump and McManus at the fifth. The latter showed a lot of speed. No show betting. : , I
