Won easily; second the same. Fannie Blazes set her own pace and, after disposing of Knapsack, was never in trouble. Wilson saved ground with her all the way. Little Rock was cut off shortly after the start and bad to go around the field, made up a lot of ground and finished strongly. Cast Iron had no chance from where he got off, had to take the overland route to get up and would have been a sharper contender with an equal start. Blue Ridge and Rio Bamba also suffered at the start. Chandoo weakened in the stretch. Knapsack showed speed for five furlongs. Scratched 343S9 The Common, 109; 28460 Prancer, 106. Chickasha came with a rush in the final furlong and got up in the last stride and finished very gamely under a drive. Helen Oakford tired and faltered in the closing strides, after showing a lot of speed. Tom Hall ran a splendid race, began slowly and was at least ten lengths out of it on the last turn, came very fast through the stretch and was catching the leaders at every stride. Judge Yoorhees and Cursus tired in the run home. Lorne and Woolsack were cut off and knocked out of it on the far turn. Hallucination ran a dull race. Scratched 34075 Require, 103. Meggs showed the most speed, went to the front soon after the start and opened up a winning gap, but had to be hard ridden to stall off Secundus at the end. The latter was outrun in the first part of the race, but came strongly in the stretch and was overhauling the leader. Baffled was pocketed at the stretch turn, but ran in much improved form. Lou Rey was thrown on the fence just after passing the judges stand the first time and closed a big gap, but the effort told on him at the finish and he tired and quit. Meggs, show, 3 to 5. She showed the most early speed, but was tiring in the last furlong and barely managed to last long enough to get second place. Lady Kent closed up with a rush in the last sixteenth and would have won in a few more strides. Bill Massio showed speed but weakened when it came to a drive. Scratched 34251 2Silk Cord, 103.
