SA11A.TOGA TURF GOSSIP. SAKATOQA, N. Y., Angust 23. TJllman and Woller still reign supreme in the betting enclosure, absolutely controlling the market, and today surpassed all previous records for high play, handling in excess of 50,000 on the six races. It is reported that they eventually won out after beginning badly on the first race, to which they lost 0,000. Molly Brant and Auriesville, two brilliant performers in the two-year-old division, and winners of their respective races today, are New York state bred. Jockeys Bullman, Doggett and Shaw incurred the displeasure of the starter while at post in the .Adirondack Stakes and were set down for the remainder of the meeting. The chief offender at the post, in the person of Tommy Burns, has thus far escaped paying the penalty for his misdeeds. W. C. "Whitney will sell at auction on a future day the three useful three-year-olds, King Hanover, Slipthrif t and Pretorius. Auriesville and Drummond, winners of the fifth and sixth races were each bid up to ,000. The former, evidently a fair class filly, was entered for 00 and "Whitey" Langdon, a pool boy doing business in the grandstand and who has had a phenomenal streak of luck at the meeting, was responsible for the boost. The Keenes have engaged five jockeys for as many starters in the Futurity. G. B. Morris leaves for Buffalo Monday with his entire string. The 8. S. Brown, jr., F. P. Keene and G. J. Long strings were shipped yesterday to Sheepshead Bay. Belmonts, Kneales and R. T. Wilsons follow tomorrow. The great two-year-old, Golden Maxim, in his trial vesterday for the Futurity eclipsed the previous records, working the distance of the race, with 125 pounds up, in the phenomenal time of 1:12. The first five furlongs was turned in 59, seven furlongs in 1 :26 and he was pulled almost to a walk at the end of a mile in 1 :44. HiB trial horse, the speedy Demurrer, was nearly distanced. J. E. Seagrams fast sprinter, Coburg, has broken down and will be retired to the stud. The racing stable of " Mr. Roslyn," composed of Mesdames Harry Payne Whitney and Herman B. Duryea, notwithstanding reports to the contrary, ris an assured fact, and selected first-class material will be added from time to time to their present string, which consists of the two crack two-year-olds, Aleono and Intervention, and a promising yearling by St. Blaise Seaweed, purchased recently at the Reed sale. Mr. Charles F. Price will eventually control the Louisville Jockey Club. This is on good authority. Thos. H. WilliamB, Jr., president of the New California Jockey Club, will arrive here early next week.
