LOCAL TURF G08SIP. The racing at Hawthorne does not interfere in the least with the force of workmen who are laboring daily at putting the finishing touches on the grandstand. Work on the paddock is progressing slowly, but it will be finished in ample time for the next meeting. J. C. Tucker, who is handling S. 8. Browns western Stable of horses, will ship next week to Buffalo, N. Y., to race at the coming meeting there. Clint DeWitt will alBO send his horses to Buffalo. She Wins will in future be barred from starting at Hawthorne. Ravensbnry, which finished second in the last race, would in all probability have reversed the decision with Little Elkin but for his bridle slip-pine off in the last quarter. G. Carroll, the Western Jockey Clubs steward at Hawthorne, will accompany starter Holtman to the post on Monday, when the "no recall" system of starting begins, and will act in the capacity of starting judge. Jockey HelgeBen who had the mount on Adelante was fined 5 by the judges yesterday for fouling Talpa in the fifth race. Racing at Hawthorne will begin hereafter at 2 p.. m. The "no recall" system of starting at Hawthorne goes into effect Monday. Judge Trevelyan questioned Jockey Dolan closely after the steeplechase as to the running of his mount, Lord Farandole. The jockey stated that the horse had blundered badly at some of the obstacles. Especially was this true at the ninth jump. The riders explanation was accepted Dy the judges JockeyUCobnrn was asked by Judge Trevelyan after the second race what the matter was with Nickey D. The rider said that the horse was cut off in the race no less than four times.
