SARATOGA NOTES. Saratoga, N. Y August 25. T. Burns grows monotonous in the regularity with which he beats the gate. Considerable surprise was manifested when it was announced that the starter had fined him 5 for his misdirected efforts in that respect. James McCormicks stable is rounding to and he was particularly unlucky to lose with Baron Pepper in the last race of the day. Q. B. Morris colt Cunard, winner of the last event, was superbly ridden by Tommy Burns, and it is now probably a settled fact that L. Jacksons career on the eastern tracks has come to an end. Morris made an effort to secure Doggetts services at Buffalo, but failed owing to the latters engagement to ride in the Futurity. Sandy McNaughton in future will make all of Jacksons engagements. In Lady Albercroft, L. V. Bell has a smart filly and one that should train on into a good three-year-old. W. C. Whitney will banquet the directors of the Saratoga Association at the club house tonight. It is to be an elaborate affair. "Snapper" Garrison was assaulted and robbed by negro thugs in the vicinity of Saratoga Lake Sunday night. J ockey Cochran will leave for Sheepshead Wednesday to ride in several important trials Thursday morning. Setauket was claimed out of the first race for ,880, by Tf. T. McGrath. The same owner sold his colt Mount Hope to a son of W. P. Burch.
