tOOAI, TURF GOSSIP. John F. Schorr bought yesterday from his father the horses Joe Frey, Gold Bell, Prince of Endur-ance, Esherin and Almaric and will hereafter race them in his own name and colors. The latter will be scarlet jacket, blue cap. Flora Pomona, which has been trained by Schorr, will bo shipped east today. Hargis and Bon Mot, which started yesterday in the Iroquois Handicap, will, on account of their fractious acting at the post, be barred from starting until properly schooled to the barrier. Jockey Coburn was fined 5 in the second race for turning his mount at the post when warned not to do so. T. H. Stevens, who bred Wyeth, this years American Derby winner, was at the track yesterday. He shipped his horses from Highland Park Sunday to St. Louis, where they will race the remainder of the season. Mr. Stevens stopped off in Chicago to look at his two-year-old colt Barca, which is being trained by "Buck" Franklin. Jockey Ranch will leave Thursday for New York to ride C. R. Ellison Skilful in the Futurity. Beginning today the following new time schedule will go into effect on the Illinois Central Railroad for the Hawthorne track: 12:15, 12:45, 1:05 and 1:30. S. Bender returned yesterday from Saratoga and brought Jack Demund, three yearlings and two two-year-olds with him. The horses were recently purchased in the east by Bender and Britton, but the latter has sold out his interest to Bender. G. C. Bennett signified his intentions yesterday of not shipping to Buffalo. In answer to a question as to whether Coburn would go east and ride in the Futurity, which is to be run next Saturday, he said that the rider would accept any fair offer any eastern owner would make, but he w.ould not send the jockey east for the usual fee of 0 for
