Clonmell, easily best, held sway well in hand throughout and is a remarkably improved colt and can beat better ones. The Amazon was favored by the light weight and ran up to her best form. Huntressa, away badly, closed a big gap and was finishing strongly, although swerving repeatedly in the last quarter. Rossiguol waB not good enough and was carried along too fast in the early part of the race to run kindly. Stevedore went well for six furlongs, but had no chance with his bad jockey and was also outclassed. Moor was evidently out for an airing. Pretorius was unfit and sore when going to the post. Forward got a . running start and made the most of the advantage, skinned the rail throughout, saving ground, and 1 finished out gamely. Virgin Soil went wide on the turn, but finished strongly, having made up considerable ground on the winner in the last half. Osgood and Innsbruck ran in greatly improved form. Both . were promiment throughout and going strongly at the end. Counterpoise, a good colt hopelessly mishandled and nearly left, raced on the extreme outside into prominence in the first quarter and was probably the best. Bridesmaid II., a coming good one, closed a big gap. Leipaic is promising and showed much speed. Arcade is a grand looker and ran a good race. Cunard, on which Burns beat the gate, made the running, setting the pace slow with the entire field waiting behind I him and stole a long and winning lead on the far turn, winning a lucky race from the pest horse. Baron Pepper trailed and was repeatedly interfered with, then moved up very faBt on the far turn, but was i compelled to go wide and was inadequately handled in a driving finish. Bedpath, running on the outside, raced into second place on the backstretch, crowding the entire field except the winner, but tired in 1 the stretch. Carbuncle was coming fast at the end.
