St. Daniel showed the most early speed and raced Baikal to retirement in the first half. Hayden took hold of him in the last sixteenth and he had plenty in reserve at the finish. Epidemic began slowly, but finished strong under a drive and caught Baikal and Maghoni tiring. Maghoni did her best and had all she could do to stall off Airlight. Both the last named swung wide into the stretch. Reservation and Her Letter were not persevered with. Star of the Sea is a slow beginner. Marie Tryon showed much the most speed and Dart kept next to the inner rail in the good going all the way. Dactyl was in a pocket for the first half, but finished strongly in the run home under the whip. Colonel Anderson showed early speed but tired when the deciding drive came. Long More was used up in chasing the leaders and quit badly in the last quarter. Lord Sterling was on the outside all the way and was eased up when beaten. He was doing his best at the end to stall off Janice. -The latter was crowded back at the first turn, but came strongly when she got clear in the run home. Daly kept him in good going, saved ground all the way and laid right next to the rail. He was tiring in the run home and all out to stall off Bounteous. The latter finished very itrongly, was much the best and would have won but for a rough trip. He was cut off at the first turn and again at the far turn. Loone was on the outside of Brisk all the way and stumbled several times. Brisk tired as if short. Banish wheeled when the barrier was released. Scratched 32336 Roysterer, 107.
