Charley Thompson followed the leaders pace closely and assumed command on the stretch bend when Boom-erack faltered, winning at the end with much in reserve. Boomerack ran well for six furlongs only. Bean was outpaced early, but gradually improved her position and finished strongly. Zack Ford ran in much improved form, the going favoring his bad legs. Rotterdam ran his race and had no mishaps. Gerda saved ground on the stretch turn, caught Lome weakening in the last eighth and came away under a mild drive. Lome set a fast pace in the first half, but tired at the end from his early efforts. Emir was unlucky at the start, was practically left at the post, had to go around his field and finished strongly. With equal racing luck he would in all probability have won. Lansdown ran prominemtly for a half mile. So did Sly Boots, which weakened badly in the last sixteenth. Scratched 34192 Decoration, 110; 346583Murmur, 97 ; 34470 Miss Trappean, 92.
